# Dashboards

> Turn answers into charts you can save and that refresh against your current data.

When you ask AskHQ about your connected data, it can answer with a **chart** instead of just
text. Save that chart and it becomes a dashboard card that reruns against your current data
every time you open it.

<Note>
  Dashboards are built from **connected systems** (QuickBooks, Apploi, PrismHR). Connect a
  system first — see [Connecting your systems](/integrations/overview).
</Note>

## Create and save a chart

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ask a data question">
    For example: *"What was revenue by payer last quarter?"* or *"Show applicants by status."*
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the chart">
    AskHQ renders a chart alongside a note about its **source**, **calculation**, and
    **freshness**, so you can see exactly how the number was derived.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save to dashboard">
    Click **Save to dashboard**. The view is saved as a definition — not a snapshot — so it
    recomputes against live data later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find it on Home">
    Saved views appear on your **Home** and **Dashboard** pages and refresh each time you open
    them.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Why charts refresh automatically

A saved dashboard card stores *how to compute the chart*, not a frozen image. When you open it,
HomecareHQ recomputes it from your current connected data — so your dashboards stay current
without manual updates.

<Tip>
  Every chart shows its calculation and data freshness. If a number looks surprising, expand the
  transparency details to see the source and how it was computed.
